Five zones in Los Angeles County are under evacuation orders, with 2,700 residents evacuated and 700 structures threatened by the flames, officials said. Six other zones in this county are currently under an evacuation warning, with 1,400 residents and 5,000 structures at risk, officials said.

The fast-growing Canyon fire is threatening areas around Piru and Castiac along the Ventura-Los Angeles county line. The fire broke out around 2 p.m. near Holser Canyon Road, northeast of Piru — a small, unincorporated town in Ventura County not far from Castaic Junction, where Interstate 5 meets Highway 126.

A new wildfire, named the Canyon Fire, is burning near Los Angeles County, California forcing several evacuations for some residents. The fire is growing and is currently at 0% containment.

An evacuation order has been issued for all of Lake Piru Recreation Area and east to the Los Angeles County line, south to SR 126, west to Center Street.

The Canyon fire broke out around 2 p.m. near Holser Canyon Road, northeast of Piru. By Thursday night, it was pushing east toward Castaic and Interstate 5.
