Those fans thirsting for the Chicago Cubs team that slugged its way to wins earlier in the season have had to settle for low-scoring nail-biters lately.

CHICAGO (AP) — Ian Happ hit a game-ending single in the 10th inning, and the Chicago Cubs edged the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-2 on Sunday.

Happ's perspective helped Pressly get back on track after an ugly outing last month. It worked, and now the Cubs' offseason trade acquisition is back in the ninth inning.

Happ went 1-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 3-2, 10-inning win over the Pirates. He also stole a base.

Chicago Cubs reliever Ryan Pressly was humbled in front of the fans at Wrigley Field. The 36-year-old closer, who was supposed to be their answer in the ninth inning, found himself lit up like a Christmas tree against the San Francisco Giants.

“I think everybody had a lot of faith that this was coming,” manager Craig Counsell said. “It’s fun to see because this is what makes a good team. This is what makes a good offense, is that Ian can kind of be not clicking, and then he gets clicking and it wins you a game.”
