American McCartney Kessler moved into the final of the WTA Hobart International by edging out Armenian Elina Avanesyan, the No 6 seed, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Friday, Tennis Majors reported.

There is a mix of experience and newcomers in the WTA Hobart semifinals. McCartney Kessler, who unexpectedly won the title in Cleveland last season, will play Elina Avanesyan, while former Australian Open semifinalist Elise Mertens must overcome the 18-year-old Maya Joint to reach the final.

McCartney Kessler will head into the Australian Open with a second WTA title under her belt after scoring a 6-4 3-6 6-0 victory over Elise Mertens in the Hobart International final on Saturday.

The stage is set for the final at the 2025 WTA Hobart 250, featuring Elise Mertens, a two-time champion and one-time finalist at the event, and fast-rising American McCartney Kessler.
