The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said China deployed a People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) helicopter while Filipino forces were monitoring the Chinese "monster ship" in the Philippines' exclusive economic zone (EEZ).

Footage appears to show a Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) vessel reportedly trespassing into waters near a Philippine island. The CCG vessel was spotted sailing some 54 miles off the Capones Island in Zambales province on Saturday (4 January).

The 12,000-ton ship, CCG-5901, was spotted near Capones Island.
