Charges might soon be brought against actor and comedian Russell Brand in relation to alleged historic sex offenses.

British prosecutors say they have been given a file of evidence from police about alleged sexual offenses by comedian Russell Brand and are considering whether to charge him.

Brand has vehemently denied the allegations, claiming his previous sexual experiences were "absolutely always consensual."

London police said Sunday said they had passed a file of evidence to state prosecutors for consideration following a probe spurred by a television investigation into sexual assault claims against actor Russell Brand.

The investigation into Russell Brand’s alleged sex offences has been handed over by the police to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to consider charges. The former comedian and actor, 49, has been accused by multiple women of sexual assault, with the alleged offences spanning years.

London police have forwarded evidence to prosecutors after a probe into sexual assault claims against Russell Brand, following a Channel 4 and The Sunday Times investigation. Brand has denied the allegations,

"We have been passed a file by the police to consider a charging decision in this case," the Crown Prosecution Service.

Detectives from London’s Metropolitan Police force have interviewed 49-year-old Brand three times over “non-recent sexual offenses.”
