Popular Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has undergone surgery and is out of danger after he was stabbed by an intruder in his home overnight, his team has said. The attack took place early on Thursday morning in an upscale neighbourhood in the Indian city of Mumbai, where Khan lives with his family.

The police said Mr. Khan was recovering in the hospital after an intruder attacked him. He sustained a major injury to his spinal cord, a doctor said.

An intruder who attacked Saif Ali Khan in his flat at night remains untraced as police are uncertain of his escape route. He is suspected to have used the fire escape stairwell, with his image partially captured on CCTV.
