The storm is not expected to impact Florida or the U.S. as it moves away from the coast and into the northern Atlantic. Tropical Storm Dexter has became the fourth named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season. Dexter strengthened into a tropical storm late Sunday night, Aug. 3, off the coast of North Carolina.
Tropical Storm Dexter forms as forecasters eye two more disturbances
The other disturbance is predicted to form further out at sea in the main development region, the spot where most hurricanes form during this portion of storm season. Forecasters raised the likelihood of this tropical wave forming a tropical depression up to 50% in the next seven days, as of Monday afternoon.
Experts are monitoring a disturbance off the U.S. Southeast coast that has a low chance of forming within the next week.
