Unum Group (NYSE:UNM) will cede $3.4B of individual long-term care (LTC) reserves and around $120M of individual disability insurance (IDI) in-force premium to Fortitude Re, who will then retrocede biometric risk to a  global reinsurer.
Unum offloads billions in LTC & disability reserves to Fortitude Re
Unum has transferred $3.4 billion of its insurance reserves to Fortitude Re under a new reinsurance partnership. The transaction, which took effect this year, will see Fortitude Re assume responsibility for 19% of Unum's long-term care reserves and 20% of its individual disability insurance business.
