Lester Lawrence "Larry" Lessig III (born June 3, 1961) is an American legal scholar and political activist. He is the Roy L. Furman Professor of Law at Harvard Law School and the former director of the Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics at Harvard University. [1] He is the founder of Creative Commons and of Equal Citizens.

Lawrence Lessig is the Roy L. Furman Professor of Law and Leadership at Harvard Law School. Prior to returning to Harvard, he taught at Stanford Law School, where he founded the Center for Internet and Society, and at the University of Chicago.

Since 2007, his focus has been on institutional corruption, and the fight to establish a representative democracy in America. That project was meant to take 10 years. It has taken a bit longer. Beginning in the mid-1990s, his focus shifted to the Internet and intellectual property.
