Get an ultratech second hand, or wait for the new ultratechs to drop. Second hand you can find them for ~$200, and the new generation is supposed to have zero blade play and be a lot smoother.

Feb 27, 2021 · I typically set a 25 degree bevel and I've found Microtech edges are often just a bit steeper, like 27 degrees or so. They sharpen by hand and I'm not sure if they use guides so your mileage may vary. The tip on the tantos is always a larger angle which I taper down so it's a consistent angle for the entire edge.

Jan 30, 2021 · But the Ultratech in general is a very reliable design and easy to clean and maintain. I have use a UT tanto for several deployments over the last few years and see it as an advantage for the one hand operation.

2001 Ultratech: There used to be a smaller spring that attaches the rear leg to the main spring carrier. This would increase the strength of deploying the blade (using 2 springs) with only one spring for retraction. This model also had a low profile titanium button and a different single screw pocket clip attachment.

Marfione loves to fuck around with screw designs and keeps making dumber and dumber screws heads. The first one I had had simple torx screws, then it was the tri wing screws, then it was the domed tri wing screws. The Scarab has a larger screw head than the Ultratech so if you have both you need two separate bits.
