In the recording, the pilot struggles to form complete sentences and oddly claims to be flying at 43,000 feet—an altitude far beyond the capabilities of a single-engine aircraft. Moments later, communication with him was lost, and officials confirmed the plane had gone down near Boise, Idaho.

A U.S. Capitol riot defendant who was accused of firing a gun into the air while among the mob on Capitol grounds on January 6, 2021, now faces charges of sexual assault and kidnapping in Utah.
